News and gossip from White Hart Lane.
The Welsh FA have insisted that Tottenham Hotspur talisman Gareth Bale will not be risked for the game against Croatia in midweek.
The attacker has been suffering with a stomach virus that saw him play just 45 minutes of the 2-1 win over Scotland in Glasgow on Friday evening.
Bale has insisted on his own Twitter account that his ankle is fine and that the only issue is his illness. However Chris Coleman says they will not risk the player if he is not 100% fit.
Spurs are ready to join the race for highly rated non-league striker Daniel Carr. The Dulwich Hamlet forward has scored a goal-a-game in the Ryman League Division One this season and has been on trial at Liverpool already this month.
Arsenal, Charlton and Leeds are also interested in the talented teenager.
Two former Tottenham figures have predicted doom for the club this season. First of all former manager George Graham, who also managed North London rivals Arsenal, believes the club will not make the top four and has backed Arsenal to do complete the feat.
Meanwhile former player Darren Anderton fears the club will complete a similar collapse to last season and miss out on Champions League football once again.
Spurs are reportedly ready to follow in the footsteps of Norwich City by targeting cash-strapped Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon with Spanish winger Diego Capel their main target.
The former Sevilla man has also been a target in the past for Liverpool and with Gareth Bale now playing more central the acquisition of a new left-sided winger is believed to be paramount to AVB’s summer plans; and Capel could be just the fit.
Tottenham have become the latest club rumoured to be interested in young Southampton left-back Luke Shaw. The teenage full-back is to sign a new contract at St Marys as soon as he turns 18 but that will not stop Spurs making a reported £16.5 million bid for the England under-21 international.
Considering they have already bought one former Southampton left-back in the past in a deal that has turned out positively it is a venture to get many excited. However Arsenal and Chelsea remain interested.
Spurs will have a battle on their hands to sign impressive winger Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad this summer - after Barcelona reportedly joined the race for the talented Frenchman who has had an impressive season in La Liga.
