There Have Never Been Doubts Over Van Persie’s Form

Robin Van Persie grabbed a goal in the Netherlands’ 3-0 win over Estonia to fire himself back into form.

Robin Van Persie has had a blinder of a season so far. Many said he wouldn’t maintain the form he showed at Arsenal, following his move to Manchester United but he’s already proved those critics wrong.

He’s bagged 19 goals in 29 games this season, which makes it seem ridiculous why plenty of people are starting to question his domestic form for Manchester United.

Van Persie has not scored a goal since the 2-0 win against Everton last month but his form for his country, proves that it’s only a matter of time before he scores the goals which will win United the Premier League title.

There is clear confidence and belief in Van Persie’s abilities at both club and country level, which is the reason he leads both attacks regardless of whether he’s not in form and scoring goals.

He is capable of doing something special and he’s shown it time and time again, which is the reason he will always get selected in front of a younger and inexperienced player who isn’t good enough to lace his boots.

Accumulatively his record reads 26 goals in 42 appearances in all games this season, which is a ratio greater than one in two and something that most strikers would crave at any level.

There were some suggestions in the recent past that United may consider dropping him for Javier Hernandez or Danny Welbeck, for the upcoming important games that his club side face.

However, this goal for Holland would have stopped that because Sir Alex Ferguson probably would have been expecting it. The only difference is it came for his country instead of his club.

Van Persie went on a run from November into January where he scored 12 goals in 11 games, which makes it ridiculous why many are currently suggesting that he’s punched above his weight in a United shirt this season.

Granted, his dip in goals over recent weeks has seen him slip way behind Luis Suarez of Liverpool in the race for the golden boot, but it’s total overreaction to suggest that he’ll be dropped by United.

While he’s scoring at any level of football, he will lead the United attack with Wayne Rooney and it won’t be a surprise to many if he bags another ten goals over United’s last nine games of the season.

United fans, are you happy he scored for the Dutch?
