News and gossip from Stamford Bridge.
Gianfranco Zola has insisted he has had NO CONTACT with Chelsea about a return to the club. The Italian is a legend at the club from his time playing at Stamford Bridge and has had an incredible season at the helm of Watford in The Championship.
With Rafa Benitez leaving the club in the summer Zola’s name has been put forward as a potential candidate but it now seems even more unlikely to happen.
Jose Mourinho on the other hand has cryptically hinted at a return to The Bridge. The Real Madrid manager was quizzed on his future in Spain and announced that his next move could be to somewhere where he had ‘already been’.
Chelsea have been roundly criticised in the press this morning for reportedly offering young midfield talent Ruben Loftus-Cheek a contract worth £1.7 million before he turns 20-years-old.
The 17-year-old England youth captain has been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City in the past and is one of the highest rated players in the youth system.
His deal is however subject to a FA tribunal after a legal appeal from his agent Joseph Donkor.
Chelsea will go in for Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne in the summer as competition for Spanish incumbent Cesar Azpilicueta. The England under-21 international has been one of the standout performers at St Marys this season and an apparent £7 million bid is being readied according to The Mirror.
Jack Butland has reiterated that a move to Stoke City was the right decision over a potential move to Chelsea. The England international claims he has more chance of developing as a player in The Potteries then he would if he had made the move to the London club; where he would be competing with Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois for the position of number one keeper.
Once again Maraoune Fellaini is being linked with a move to Chelsea. The Daily Star take their turn at the rumour today and suggest Eden Hazard could play a role in bringing his countryman to the club.
Any potential deal would be worth in excess of £22 million.
Finally and Atletico Madrid have given Chelsea a glimmer of hope in their attempts to sell Fernando Torres this summer.
Diego Simeone spoke of how important the striker can be at Los Colchoneros and he may be looking to bring the former player back to his home club in the summer.
There is even talk it could be part of a swap-deal with Radamel Falcao.
What do you make of everything Chelsea this weekend?
