The rumour in question relates to whether his current loan side Juventus have or have not sold a single Bendtner emblazoned shirt.
Nicklas Bendtner certainly has had something of an eventful twelve months. After his Sunderland loan spell ended acrimoniously he went on to have a brilliant Euro 2012; which culminated in an unfortunate suspension and fine regarding ‘Paddygate’.
It was a sad way to end the tournament as it detracted from what were genuinely impressive turn-outs for the national team and therefore hampered his chances of a summer move.
Arsene Wenger was keen to be rid of Bendtner in the summer. However deals for the troublesome Dane did not come through thick and fast. In the end it was the reluctance of Athletic Bilbao that saw Arsenal manage to shift the striker.
Juventus failed to complete a move for Fernando Llorente and when Fulham beat them and Fiorentina to Dimitar Berbatov’s signature the Italian champions offered a loan deal out of desperation.
Being called fat, unwanted, suffering a serious injury and being caught drink-driving with a subsequent ban from the national team have all since followed in a pretty forgettable season.
However one statistic that has made the headlines was the fact Juventus had not managed to sell a single Bendtner shirt from their club-shop.
TalkSPORT even rang and asked for one themselves before being questioned whether they would rather have someone else’s name adorning the Bianconeri.
Now Bendtner has spoken about that ‘story’ through his Twitter account; and was in high spirits declaring his amusement at the ‘tale’.
@kalamafc someone has started the rumor and i guess it caught on.. I am still laughing— Nicklas Bendtner (@bendtnerb52) March 20, 2013
He did not however categorically confirm whether it was true or not.
Do you think Juventus have sold any Bendtner shirts?
