Chelsea should be all over Yaya Toure like a rash

Yaya Toure’s agent has indicated he could quit the club this summer, which should put Premier League giants Chelsea on red alert.

Manchester City have been trying to sort out a new deal with Yaya Toure, which so far hasn’t exactly gone to plan.

It’s not clear what the two parties disagree on but Toure has made no secret of the fact, through his representatives, that he would be willing to leave the club in the summer, if he doesn’t get his way.

Chelsea have a midfield, which is calling out for a player of his quality and presence, especially considering there is still no sign that Frank Lampard will be offered a new contract.

There are few other sides in Europe who would be willing to pay the fee, which would likely be demanded by City, and the personal package it would take to convince Toure to sign on the dotted line.

The only other two possible candidates are Manchester United, who City simply wouldn’t sell to, and Paris Saint-Germain, who Toure may be reluctant to join because of their lower profile at the moment.

There are several reasons Toure would be ideal for Chelsea and the first is the fact that he is a massive player in terms of size and strength. Chelsea have a talented midfield, which is graced with smaller players.

Toure is good enough to play the enforcer role, which means protecting these players as well as getting involved with the build up and creative side of Chelsea’s attacking play.

It’s that extra string to his bow, which would be useful for Chelsea because when their midfield has struggled at times this season, they haven’t really had a plan b to turn to.

Toure would offer just that because he’s good and strong enough to be able to burst through the heart of any side with pace and power, and he’s shown at City that he has a very good touch in terms of finishing inside the opponent’s final third.

The whole issue depends on whether City can get a deal worked out and they are under no pressure to it quickly, as Toure’s current deal has another two seasons to run.

Then there is the fact they may not want to sell to another English side, regardless of the fact Chelsea could afford him but the Stamford Bridge club need to apply the pressure because there’s no doubt he’d make them a better side.

Chelsea fans, would Toure be a good signing?
