Arsenal latest: Including Szczesny and Rangel

News and gossip from The Emirates.

Wojciech Szczesny has issued an apology for comments his father made about his manager Arsene Wenger and the treatment of his son at The Emirates.

The Polish international has lost his place in the first team to compatriot Lukasz Fabianski after a poor string of performances but the players father Maciej, himself a former Polish international goalkeeper, claims Wenger has made a scapegoat of his son who has been struggling with injury problems.

However Wojciech claimed his father had been disrespectful to the club he loves.

Arsene Wenger will be looking for Bacary Sagna replacements this summer and it is believed he has two names in particular at the top of his shortlist.

Sagna's contract extension talks appear to have collapsed and Wenger is not desperate to keep hold of the French right-back who has struggled with injuries and form recently.

Sochaux talent and France under-21 captain Sebastien Corchia is said to be his number one target while he is also keen on the services of Swansea City’s Angel Rangel.

Arsenal’s under-21s have conquered their Manchester United rivals in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League. United gained the early initiative when a rasping strike from Belgian youngster Charni Ekangamene gave them an early lead at Underhill.

However Conor Henderson dispatched a penalty before the break and it was a late volley from right-back Hector Bellerin that snatched a 2-1 victory for Arsenal; days after he celebrated his 18th birthday.

Staying with Arsenal’s youngsters and Arsenal’s NextGen side now know who they will face in the semi-final if they can overcome CSKA Moscow in The Emirates this Tuesday. They will face London rivals Chelsea who will be confident of success after beating Barcelona and Juventus to get to the final four in Lake Como.

Things are getting worse for Denilson out in Brazil. After he got in a foul-mouthed tirade with a Sao Paulo fan the other day he has scored a comedy own goal. Marking the back post the midfielder aimed an air shot at the ball which then ricocheted off his knee into the back of the net.

Finally and Arsenal may be ready to try lure Carlos Vela back to The Emirates. The Mexican has had a great season at Real Sociedad in La Liga and there is reportedly a £4 million buy-back clause in his current deal which Wenger may decide to activate; despite the players assertions on staying in Spain.

Real Sociedad however plan on negotiations of their own; negotiations to bring and end to the buy-back clause currently in his deal.
