Tottenham Hotspur latest: 'Kick Bale' and Sporting Lisbon star linked

All the latest news and views connected to Tottenham Hotspur from the past 24 hours.

Tottenham's players are currently scattered around the world ahead of this week's World Cup Qualifiers. Among them is midfield man Scott Parker who has been speaking about his determination to stay with the England setup right through to Brazil 2014.

"The fire rumbles in my belly to get there for Brazil," he commented, before speaking about the challenge he overcame with his Achilles injury, the most serious of his career to date. "I have not had many massive injuries in my career but the ones you do have give you that hunger again."

The man hoping to take his place in the Tottenham squad and potentially England one day too is young midfield star Tom Carroll. He is currently with the under-21s, who play tomorrow night, and scored an absolute corker in training which fortunately was captured on camera. You can watch it here.

Chelsea star Juan Mata has been making mischief by touting Andre Villas-Boas as a potential Real Madrid boss. In an interview, the Spaniard said that despite the fact life did not pan out for the AVB at Chelsea, Mata said he was impressed by his methods during their time together, describing him as a 'great modern coach.' When pressed if he could take over from Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, Mata said he feels the Spurs boss has the capability to manage any team.

The Metro claims Spurs have been offered Sporting Lisbon winger Diego Capel. He was a target for Spurs under Juande Ramos, and now 25, it is claimed he could be available for as little as £5 million, with Sporting keen to trim their wage bill of high earners.

Alan Hutton is not the only former Spurs star to be tasked with taking on Gareth Bale; Niko Kranjcar's Croatia will come head to head with Wales and the midfielder has been speaking about how focused his country are on stopping the winger. Kranjcar, now at Dinamo Kiev, said: "At this moment Gareth is the only one who can be compared with the two best players in the world - Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo." - Just nobody tell Rio Ferdinand.

Spurs may want to worry about comments from Dundee manager John Brown, who has urged Scotland's players to 'give Bale a good kicking'. The Scotsman says that is the only way they will be able to stop the Welshman, stating: 'He can't run without legs.'
