Veteran Colombian midfielder Hernando Patino produced one of the best ever volleys for his first division side Deportes Quindio.
Remember the name Hernando Patino because if it doesn’t crop up in terms when discussing examples of the best technique to volley a ball, then shame on the football world because it definitely should.
There have been some blinding volleys that have appeared throughout history such as Marco van Basten’s effort against the USSR in 1998 or Alan Shearer’s effort against Everton in 2002.
What’s more amazing is that he’s 39-years-old and bagged the goal during his club’s league match against Alianza Petrolera, which they unfortunately lost 3-2.
The ball was cleared after a corner and looped out to Patino who took a shot on the volley first time, which flew past the goalkeeper and into the net, prompting manic celebrations from him and his teammates.
What a truly stunning effort, check it out.
What do you think? Seen a better volley than that?
