Liverpool latest: Including Allen surgery and Suarez

All of the latest Liverpool news.

Liverpool have been offered further hope of re-signing Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid. Newspaper reports are suggesting that the current Spanish champions are lining up Marco Verratti as a replacement for the Spaniard who has refused to sign a new contract at the club.

Online Liverpool based media sites are suggesting that Arsenal will make a bid of £13 million to sign Martin Skrtel this summer. The centre back is being linked with a move away from the club after falling out of favour with manager Brendan Rodgers after being dropped earlier in the season.

Joe Allen will have surgery on his injured shoulder tomorrow morning. Allen has been ruled out for the rest of the season with the problem, which he has been carrying for a number of weeks. He’s withdrawn from the Wales squad to play Scotland and Croatia over the next week.

Daniel Agger has urged anyone and everyone connected to Liverpool to have patience with Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers’ methods have sometimes been criticised this season but Agger says his style of play and his style of coaching will pay off for the club in the long run.

Liverpool have been dealt a further blow in their pursuit of Ashley Williams after the defender’s agent claimed he’s happy at Swansea. Liverpool have been linked with a big money move for the centre back who would be an ideal replacement for the retiring Jamie Carragher.

The rumours surrounding the future of Luis Suarez have not gone away with Juventus the latest team to be linked with him. Suarez has been tipped with several big money moves away from the club despite the fact he’s shown no desire to leave and has said he’s happy at Anfield.

Luis Suarez has defended the way he carries himself on the football pitch. Suarez is often criticised for the way he behaves in certain situations but he’s stuck up for himself, saying there is nothing he can do about having plenty of passion when he plays well for the club.

Jamie Carragher has revealed that he never wanted Michael Owen to leave the club in the first place. Liverpool had the chance to re-sign Owen in 2009 but his close friend says it never felt right that the club originally moved him on to Real Madrid before a return to England.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has been preparing well for up coming England Under-21 matches. Sterling was recently dropped from the Liverpool first team with Brendan Rodgers saying a spell with the England Under-21 national side will do him the world of good.
