Lady luck – she’s as changeable as the weather!
Did you get lucky at the weekend? Here’s a roundup of those who did and didn’t, but mostly didn’t.
Lady luck is one of those flighty birds, one minute she’s with you the next she’s gone, sometimes she’s your best friend and at other times she’s like a Rottweiler from hell!
After that little tease she came around, handing the good luck to Everton and the miserable, mucky, bad luck, the luck no such man or team want, went to Roberto and his band of (is this still apt?) title challengers.
Poor Mr Mancini couldn’t even cool down enough to face the press, how he must have wished he had a David Beckham in the dressing room, just someone to throw or kick a boot at! In fairness, though, that may have been the match after which the HR department was contacted by the owners.
“Prepare his P45 – we’re going to need it soon – and get in touch with Rafa, he’ll be looking for a job at the end of the season.”
I hope he doesn’t go, this quest for regular and instant success by the big clubs is understood but unrealistic and needs to be measured out, with less kneejerk reactions all round.
Other teams to face the harsh reality of a spell of bad luck were Newcastle, QPR and the England Rugby team – although all 3 had the pleasure of being involved in great games (at least from the point of view of a neutral) with the exception of the horror tackle that probably has been discussed to death, so I won’t dwell on it here.
Bad luck comes to us all – and I’d say the broad majority of us will know all about that tomorrow, all but few will feel sufficiently dumped upon after George closes his little red briefcase – and if you don’t, then you’re one of the lucky few and in the lady’s good books.
But remember, what goes around cometh around.
