Any club that would have been interested in David Villa has just been dealt a major blow, as Barcelona have offered him a new deal to stay at the club beyond his current deal.
There may be some formalities before the deal goes through officially but Villa is unlikely to reject the offer from the club because why would he want to leave a side that has shown such a leap of faith in him?
There are plenty of other La Liga targets who have been well talked about as possible Premier League purchases this summer who could well just stay put, as the rumour mill continues to go mad.
Victor Valdes has been well publicised as a possible transfer target for Arsenal and Liverpool, but it’s much more likely that Barcelona will allow him to run down his current contract before moving on.
They may even try and iron things out before that point and get him to commit to the club on a new deal, even though he’s said he wants to move onto a new adventure.
Dani Alves is another Barcelona player in a similar situation. Rumours have suggested that Arsenal will try and sign him this summer in a bid to offer him a way out of Spain.
However, he’s a regular for the first team, one of the best attacking full backs in the world and someone that Tito Vilanova relies on and Pep Guardiola before him. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Isco is a name that plenty of people will be familiar with and a player who is on a very long deal at Malaga; it expires in the summer of 2016.
He’s said that he will only leave the club if he is forced to do so due to the poor financial state that Malaga are currently in. His reason seems innocent enough; he doesn’t want to risk his basic development as a player.
Real Madrid have several players who could be on the move this summer, if you believe every single rumour which emanates from online media sources.
Luka Modric has been tipped for a Premier League return despite only joining Real Madrid last summer, which saw him sign an initial contract which runs to the summer of 2017.
Mesut Ozil has also been linked with a move away as has superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, they are players who are simply too important for the club to release if they want to try and make a fight for the La Liga title next season.
Who do you think will be on the move or stay this summer?
