Tottenham fans react to William Gallas horror show performance against Inter Milan

The French defender certainly had a night to forget in the Europa League tie at the San Siro on Thursday night.

While Arsenal could count themselves rather unlucky to have failed to progress because of the outdated away-goal rule in Munich last night Tottenham Hotspur were left thanking the draconian tie-breaking measure after an abysmal performance against Inter Milan almost produced one of Europe’s most shocking comebacks.

They lost their tie 4-1 after-extra-time with Inter Milan forward Antonio Cassano putting in a man-of-the-match performance in the San Siro.

Gareth Bale was suspended for the tie and his presence was sorely missed but the rotation of the team did not help matters.

Kyle Naughton, Jake Livermore and Brad Friedel came into the team and were uninspiring but it was veteran defender William Gallas who has come in for the most stick for his abject performance in the game.

Spurs fans have consistently complained about the former Arsenal and Chelsea defender’s performances when called upon this season and once again they were left their scratching their heads wondering why after this performance.

He was poor throughout but after his horrid own goal a revolting error allowed Esteban Cambiasso through on goal in the 90th minute; but the Argentine missed his opportunity to settle the tie.

Gallas even had a chance to save his own blushes but his header from six yards out when shockingly wide.

In the end Emmanuel Adebayor tucked away Moussa Dembele’s parried shot to save Tottenham's European ambitions.

Gallas was the only player remaining in the starting line-up from the infamous 4-3 tie in the Champions League back in 2010-11 but with his contract expiring this summer not many Tottenham fans will be sorry to see the back of him before next season.

Here is some of the reaction from Twitter to Gallas’ revolting performance…
