Forget Lescott - Scott Sinclair is the man to take in any Marouane Fellaini swap-deal

Van Persie And Sinclair

If Manchester City really want Maraoune Fellaini this summer should Everton ask for Scott Sinclair to be thrown into the equation?

In January the press had plenty a story regarding the future of Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair. The former Swansea player had moved to the club from Swansea City with high hopes after an outstanding previous season in the Premier League.

However the former Chelsea youngster has found himself struggling for first team-football playing just 10 games throughout the entire campaign and seriously denting any lingering hopes he had of breaking into the England fold ahead of the World Cup in 2014.

One team that was constantly linked with a move for Sinclair in the winter window was Everton who were reportedly ready to bring him in on loan for the season.

However the truth in those rumours was quickly exposed as sparse as the winger had already played for Swansea and Manchester City this season meaning playing for a third team was impossible; because FIFA says so that’s why!

The 23-year-old is still young enough to scratch this season down as a write-off and work back into full form next term with a new team which brings us to this swap deal.

Manchester City are one of many teams being linked with a summer move for Everton star Maraoune Fellaini and given the current doom and gloom around Goodison Park it looks increasingly likely that the Belgian will leave in the summer.

Whatever cash sum that City come in with should be handsomely replied with a ‘and Scott please’ by the Everton hierarchy.

A lot of people have already said that perhaps a swap deal for Joleon Lescott is the best way forward but defenders are invariably cheaper to buy than wing-men of the ability Sinclair possesses and Everton could certainly use him.

While Steven Pienaar is a consistent model of good performances Kevin Mirallas for all his talent has been largely hit and miss and as for Steven Naismith; he has not quite cut the mustard out-wide.

So bringing in Sinclair would be an excellent move from an Everton perspective. Sure they will be losing Fellaini in the process but that seems a forgone conclusion now anyway. They may as well bring in a talented young player to compensate the loss while they are at it.
