Arsenal front man Lukas Podolski is being linked with a move away from North London, with Atletico Madrid and Juventus thought to be the interested parties.
If Lukas Podolski does leave Arsenal this summer, as unlikely as that seems, he could well be the very reason that Chelsea manage to pull off a move for Falcao, which seemed dead in the water.
If the reports are to be believed then Atletico Madrid have a very good chance of signing the striker, who has failed to have the impact at Arsenal that he may have been expecting when he first joined the club.
If that’s a deal that happens, it’s a big giveaway sign that Atletico Madrid could be ready to let Falcao move on with Chelsea likely to be the most obvious Premier League destination for the prolific forward.
However, it’s a potential deal, which depends on a number of things currently based on pure speculation from several online media sources.
Chelsea haven’t even appointed the manager yet, who is going to replace Rafa Benitez in charge of Stamford Bridge in the summer. That boss may want a completely different player to Falcao.
It’s also dependent on Arsene Wenger axing Podolski and him choosing Spain over Italy. That seems unlikely as Wenger seems to have brought the German in, to be a main stay in the attack of the side over the next few seasons.
Chelsea will react in the summer and they will give their new manager the funds he wants to make several key signings, which should help them reduce the gap from themselves and the two Manchester clubs.
They will also want to improve their performance in the Champions League, which was very disappointing this season, especially considering the fact that Chelsea are the European champions.
There’s no doubt that Chelsea need a heavyweight in the attack of their side, someone who can score a Luis Suarez-esque amount of goals and be a reliable player, which the side has been missing since Didier Drogba left.
There will be few Chelsea fans who argue against Falcao being that man but how easy it is for him to get to Stamford Bridge remains to be seen. If Podolski does join Atletico, they have a chance.
Any chance of this happening?
