Arsenal latest: Including Isco and Swansea team news

News and gossip from The Emirates.

Arsenal are travelling to South Wales to face Swansea this weekend; and have a real selection dilemma after the win against Bayern Munich in midweek.

Kieran Gibbs is expected to drop to the bench so in come’s Nacho Monreal while Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna and Lukas Podolski all still remain on the side-lines.

Wojciech Szczesny and Thomas Vermaelen are available but Wenger may opt to go with Lukasz Fabianksi and Laurent Koscielny after their impressive performances in Munich.

Swansea are without Chico Flores and Kemy Agustien while Leon Britton is expected to be fit. Neil Taylor is also pushing for a recall after the Welsh international made his comeback from a broken ankle on Thursday for the under-21’s.

The Daily Mail has suggested that Arsene Wenger may be ready to part company with Szczesny and Vermaelen after reportedly ‘losing patience’ with the duo. They understand that certain members of the Arsenal squad are growing increasingly unhappy with the ‘ultra-confident’ demeanour of the Polish stopper and do not feel he warrants such an attitude with his performances.

Meanwhile Vermaelen could be sold to Barcelona.

However Wenger himself has dismissed such claims saying that while there place in the first-team, nor anybody’s, could ever be guaranteed; they would not be leaving the club this summer.

The Daily Star believe that Malaga midfielder Isco will be Arsenal’s top priority this summer. The attacking midfielder put in another excellent display as his side knocked Porto out of the Champions League this week. A deal worth around £30 million is being mooted.

Nicklas Bendtner may finally have some potential suitors after Russian outfits Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St Petersburg have reportedly registered an interest in the player. He is also being monitored by Hamburg and Stuttgart of the Bundesliga while his unhappy loan spell at Juventus continues to flounder.

It has been confirmed that young Japanese starlet Ryo Miyaichi will undergo ankle surgery that looks set to keep him out for the rest of the season. The on-loan Wigan speedster suffered the injury during the FA Cup tie against Everton and it has emerged he suffered severe internal damage to his ligaments which has necessitated surgery.

Arsenal may have to fend off summer interest for their defender Per Mertesacker. The German international has been consistently criticised for being ‘to slow’ for the Premier League and Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg feel they could bring the giant back to his homeland. The man behind the deal is Klaus Allofs, who originally signed Mertesacker from Hannover when he was general director at Werder Bremen.
