Leading independent developer and digital publisher boasts continued growth.

Valve Software grew by 50 per cent in 2012, according to BAFTA fellowship winner and company founder Gabe Newell.

Speaking after winning the award, the Valve owner revealed some of the notoriously tight-lipped company's stats, showing that the Half-Life developer and Steam platform holder is continuing its plan for global dominance.

Newell credited much of the growth to user-generated content and open-platorms, suggesting that gamer involvment in development will grow significantly in the coming years.

"Our business has grown by about 50 per cent on the back of the opportunities that have been created by having these open platforms," he commented.

"So people understand the scale of how big it's getting... the last Dota 2 updates we were generating 3.5 terabits per second – that's about 2 per cent of tall the mobile and land-based internet activity."
