A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea ahead of the Europa League match tonight.
Fernando Torres is expected to lead the line for Chelsea as they attempt to overturn a 1-0 deficit in their Europa League tie against Steaua Bucharest at Stamford Bridge tonight. John Terry will also likely start the match, and Chelsea fans can take heart from the last time Steaua travelled to England with a 1-0 advantage, when they went out to Middlesbrough thanks to a last minute Massimo Maccarone goal.
If Chelsea progress, they could end up playing another 19 matches this season, but defender Cesar Azpilicueta has said the team are not worried about fixture congestion, and they still hope to compete in every match they play:
“We want to win trophies. Now we have three objectives. This is the next one, to carry on in the Europa League.
"We want to win every trophy. It's an objective and we're not going to sacrifice any competition.”
The Steaua coach, Laurentiu Reghencampf, has said that he hopes his side can score an early goal in order to capitalise on the frustrations bubbling under the surface amongst Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge. If all goes to plan, he hopes Steaua can “annihilate” Chelsea tonight.
Anzhi manager Guus Hiddink has cooled speculation that the Russian side are interested in signing Fernando Torres, and has said that they have made no approaches for anyone recently, despite frequently being linked with players in the press.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly happy to return to Stamford Bridge this summer, but has one condition – that Michael Emenalo is removed from his position as technical director. The Nigerian was rumoured to have played a big part in bringing Rafa Benitez to the club.
Mourinho is apparently set to meet with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez at the end of the month to discuss his future at the Spanish club, with rumours that a £10million severance package has already been agreed that will see him leave this summer.
On HITC today, we look at why Chelsea cannot allow Arsenal to pinch Romelu Lukaku this summer, and ask how the Blues can get rid of Fernando Torres?
