Liverpool latest: Including Sturridge fitness and three in England squad

Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Daniel Sturridge have all been named in the England squad for the World Cup qualifying matches against San Marino and Montenegro this month. There was talk of a possible recall for Stewart Downing who has been overlooked on this occasion.

Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Raheem Sterling and Suso are both integral parts of the Liverpool squad. Recent reports have suggested that the pair could be sent out on loan for further first team experience but Rodgers has dismissed the rumours saying they are need for the senior side.

Daniel Sturridge has reassured Liverpool fans that his fitness is fine. He has revealed that he is expecting to play a part in the final nine games of the season after a brief spell out of action recently with a leg problem. He returned in the win against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Liverpool have been offered fresh hope in their pursuit of Swansea City captain Ashley Williams. Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has admitted there is a good chance Williams will leave if a big side comes in and makes a competitive offer for the central defender.

Nuri Sahin has taken a stab at Brendan Rodgers after his loan move to the club didn’t work out. Sahin joined Liverpool on loan from Real Madrid but failed to have a big impact at the club, which he blames on Rodgers asking him to play out of position during his brief spell.

Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing has thanked Bolton for giving him a way out of Anfield. Spearing played a major role in the Liverpool first team last season but was loaned out to the Championship side this campaign to play more games. He has been reluctant to commit his future to Bolton, suggesting a move back to Liverpool is on.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has heaped the praise onto Brazilian play maker Philippe Coutinho. Coutinho signed from Inter Milan during the January transfer window and already has a goal and two assists to his name this season in the few games he’s played.

Michael Ngoo says he is hopeful of winning a regular place at Liverpool, when he returns from a loan spell at Scottish club Hearts. Ngoo has suggested he can offer Brendan Rodgers several things which he does not already have in the attack of the side.

Guillermo Ochoa has put Liverpool on red alert after admitting he wants to move to the Premier League. Liverpool had previously been linked with the Mexican as a possible replacement for Brad Jones at the end of the season with the Australian not getting any younger.
