7. 1964 - Jack Ruby is sentenced to death after being found guilty of the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged assassin of President John F Kennedy

8. 1967 - John F. Kennedy's body is moved to a permanent grave in Arlington National Cemetery

9. 1984 - Gunmen shoot and injure the Sinn Fein president, Gerry Adams, in an attack in central Belfast

10. 1991 - The Birmingham Six walk free from jail after their convictions for the murder of 21 people in two pubs are quashed by the Court of Appeal
