Brendan Rodgers has revealed his summer transfer plans, with three new faces likely to arrive at Anfield.
Rodgers worked wonders in the January transfer window to bring in Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho to the side but how exactly does he need to improve each area of the side through a new signing?
The departure of Jamie Carragher at the end of the season means a hole in the defence which needs to be filled.
Liverpool are becoming more and more of a pass and move type side, so the replacement has to be good on the ball and able to pass the ball out from the back with ease.
The number of defenders being linked with Liverpool seems to grow in number by the day, but expect someone who is high on quality and experience.
Lucas looks as though he’s going to play the holding role for the side next season, which means the midfield man to come in has to be an attack minded player.
That is unless Rodgers decides to go with a holding player- like the discussed Manuel Iturra, who would allow Lucas to play a more advanced central position, which he is more than capable of doing.
Either way the club needs cover in central positions because Steven Gerrard cannot play every single game and Philippe Coutinho can’t play alternate games as an attacking midfield player and striker in the pocket.
Liverpool have a trio of quality forwards in Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini and an addition in this area would mean the quarter would become complete.
Liverpool will be looking for one thing in any new striker and that’s goals. Andy Carroll is due to return to the club at the end of the season but he doesn’t seem like the answer to Liverpool’s prayers.
This is arguably the most important decision that Rodgers has to make this summer because it’s a signing which could be the difference between securing and missing out on Champions League football.
Liverpool fans, what changes are you expecting?
