Five players Martin Jol worked with in Amsterdam that could replace the likes of Mladen Petric, Mark Schwarzer, Sascha Riether and Brede Hangeland should they not remain at Craven Cottage next season. Would you like to see them at Fulham?
Before arriving at Craven Cottage Martin Jol had a one-year-stint as the manager of one of world footballs most famous clubs; Ajax Amsterdam.
While in Holland he reintroduced the attacking flow to the Ajax team that had previously gone missing and the former Tottenham coach guided the side to an incredible record of 106 league goals and an overall goal difference of +86.
It was not enough to earn the side a title as Steve McClaren was busy leading his FC Twente side to glory of their own that season but a Dutch Cup triumph with a 6-1 final victory over Feyenoord was a small consolation.
However he soon left in the next season after struggling to maintain such form; but during his time in Ajax he certainly made some friends at the club.
In January he tried in vain to sign Maarten Stekelenburg and did manage to bring in Eyong Enoh and Urby Emanuelson; all three former players of his at the Amsterdam Arena.
But come the summer are there any other players with the Ajax connection that Jol should consider bringing in?
Targeted by bigger clubs than Fulham but could Arsenal or Tottenham offer him the armband? Jol certainly could if Brede Hangeland decides he isn’t hanging about at the end of the season.
It was Martin Jol who first made him a regular starter in the Eredivisie and that mutual trust could give Jol the edge in the pursuit of his signature.
Alderweireld is only 24-years-old and could see the opportunity as a stepping stone into English football.
The Argentine was a bit-part player under Jol but at the time he was competing with a certain Luis Suarez for the striker spot.
The 28-year-old is currently at Ligue 1 side Nice where he has been banging in the goals with 12 in 20 on the French Riviera.
If Mladen Petric decides to move on he could be a perfect replacement.
Gregory Van Der Wiel
The right-back was a regular under Martin Jol and cemented his place in the Dutch national side during his tenure.
However since a move to PSG this summer he has not been on top-form; struggling to usurp Christophe Jallet from the starting XI.
If Sascha Riether can’t be tied down than GVDW is the perfect replacement.
The Dutch international has fell out of favour in Rome and he has fell out of love with the eternal city.
Told a move to Fulham in January was off while 30,000ft in the air on his way to a medical in London has just rankled him even more.
With Mark Schwarzer out of contract in the summer this seems a likely deal; however since the sacking of Zdenek Zeman he has won back his goalkeeping duties at the Olimpico.
Siem De Jong
It was under Jol that the midfielder got his first and only Netherlands cap and performances in this seasons Champions League appear to have convinced the 24-year-old he is ready for a challenge on the bigger stage.
Newcastle have previously been mentioned with a move for the player but Fulham should not shirk out of a bid for this talent.
Would you like to see any of these players at Craven Cottage next season? Are any of the deals realistic?
