Tottenham fans who would you prefer to see at The Lane - Robert Lewandowski or Leandro Damiao?

The two strikers are likely to be on the move sooner rather than later and Spurs have been linked with both. So which one is the best fit for Andre Villas Boas' side?

It is well publicised that Tottenham Hotspur are going to be in need of a new striker this summer. The club currently have just Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe as front-line striking options in their first team squad and need to consider their options; two of which are presented here.

Firstly there is Leandro Damiao. A long term target of Spurs he seems like one of the new breed of Brazilian player’s content with living and playing in the country. In some respects that is a good thing. The standard is improving rapidly while the finances have never been stronger especially for a team like Internacional.

However the league system is still not conducive to a prolonged career at the top and while the standard is improving it is certainly a way off European football.

Therefore a move to Tottenham seems a brilliant option for the player, despite his apparent attraction to Serie A and Napoli.

The other option is Robert Lewandowski. I do not quite understand why but the striker seems like a Tottenham player. Bold, brash and uncompromising he is the sort of centre forward the team needs to take them to the next level.

So which one would you prefer?

Well let’s compare the two.

The first Top Trump attribute has to be age and the two are not far apart in that respect. The Polish international will turn 25 in August while the Brazilian will be 24 in July.

The two are also similar in terms of their goalscoring feats. In 2012 Damiao bagged 24 goals in 43 appearances while Lewandowski scored 30 in 47 last season.

Damiao has only just started his most recent season in Brazil but has already started firing on all cylinders with five goals in seven games.

Lewandowski has also had a fantastic campaign in front of goal scoring 22 in 34 appearances including a streak of seven games in a row in which he scored for Die Schwarzgelben.

So Lewandowski might just snatch it on goal-scoring ability but what about overall play?

Well the two are very similar. Similar heights and similar build both possess a deceptive turn of pace and positional play that confuses the opposition.

Indeed Lewandowski has been compared to a young Andriy Shevchenko while Damiao was called the heir to the original Ronaldo by the man himself.

So in terms of talent there really is very little separating them but if Tottenham had to choose then the obvious choice would have to be Lewandowski.

Not only is the Bundesliga a different kettle of fish to the various championships played annually in Brazil but his transfer would be easier in regards to visa’s and third-party ownership.

Not only this; but it also appears he would be a cheaper option based on the original quotes from both clubs and we know how frugal Daniel Levy can be.

For me it’s a no-brainer and Spurs with Lewandowski could be a European force. Spurs with Damiao would be good but not the whole ticket but football is a game of opinions….

…so whats yours? Damiao or Lewandowski?
