Roberto Martinez could be a superb manager for Everton, if the club let David Moyes walk away at the end of the season.
David Moyes’ future at Everton won’t become clear until after the end of May. He’s made it clear that’s the situation and it’s not going to change until then.
There are some rumours doing the rounds that he could leave the club, which would be a shame considering the years of service that he’s given Everton and the relative success he’s achieved during that time.
If he does go then the club will have to look for a long term and experienced solution who can push the club forward another level.
One such boss who would be perfect for the job at Goodison Park is Roberto Martinez.
The Spaniard has been battling away with Wigan for the last couple of years and could find a new challenge refreshing, as he’s bound to welcome anything other than a fight against relegation.
He’s perfect for Everton because he’s already been working at a club with a stringent financial structure, that doesn’t spend a lot of money, so he will know what to expect given the likely constraints at Everton.
Martinez is capable of getting his sides to play some of the best football seen in a division which could be a refreshing change for Everton fans, from the style which they are used to seeing on a weekly basis.
He would change the way Everton play but retain the core values of honest, hard work and respect which are things that Moyes has instilled over the current side.
He wouldn’t make too much difference in terms of the players who try and leave Everton this summer with Marouane Fellaini, Leighton Baines and several others likely to consider their positions, more so if Moyes leaves the club.
It would be a surprise if Moyes does go but there are good candidates to replace him, candidates who will be long term bosses and not just a quick fix until Everton work out how on earth they’re going to cope without Moyes at the helm.
Moyes could still stay at the club, which is perfectly reasonable and believable but Martinez should be one of the names at the very top of the list of managers who are experienced and good enough to follow him.
Everton fans, how do you read the Moyes situation?
