This is Tomas Rosicky's chance to write his name in Arsenal history

With Jack Wilshere expected to miss Arsenal's game with Bayern Munich, they need to turn to an experience head in midfield.

Spare a thought for Arsene Wenger right now.

Even with a midfield duo of Yaya Toure and Marouane Fellaini, Arsenal would be hard pressed not only to beat Bayern Munich in their own backyard, but to overturn a 3-1 home leg deficit.

The news which broke last night and which is expected to be confirmed shortly is that Jack Wilshere is 'out' of the clash tomorrow night, a real blow for the Gunners.

The news has been made worse by reports Bacary Sagna will also miss the match, along with Lukas Podolski being a doubt, with the only slight ray of light that Bayern's Franck Ribery is out and Arjen Robben is a doubt.

Now clearly Arsenal can't go and hire a Toure or Fellaini for the day, so they need to look at what they have at their disposal.

And the best option might just be Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky.

At 32 he has the experience Arsenal need on a night like this, and he also has the technical skill to counter Bayern's expected dominance from Schweinsteiger and Martinez.

Rosicky has many of the ball playing qualities of Wilshere and could slot straight in as a like-for-like replacement tactically, alongside Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby providing a more powerful presence.

Santi Cazorla is another option for the centre but it's likely he will continue out wide, especially with Podolski uncertain to start the match or feature at all against his former club.

Rosicky has had a tough season with injuries and has only made eight first team appearances for Arsenal all season long, but this may just be the opportunity he is hoping for.

He produced in big matches this time last season for the club and Arsenal need him to show the same type of form as a year ago. If he can they they have a chance, not much of one, but an opportunity nonetheless.

And Rosicky can make himself an eternal Arsenal hero.

Should Rosicky start the match in Wilshere's absence? Can he give them a chance of winning?
