You ever have one of those Monday’s where you just can’t seem to get a clear train of thought?
You lack direction; your to-do list may as well be turned into a paper aeroplane and cast out of the window. Dozens of people have interrupted the one thing you were about to start to the point where you can’t remember what it was that you were about to start.
So you drift off, look out the window and the mind wanders. So I’m thinking about the Manchester United vs Chelsea match – United fans thought they were in for a treat, certain that Rafa and his blues were about to be humiliated with more than just the snub of a handshake.
As Rooney’s free kick went in unchallenged, Old Trafford erupted and the prawn sandwich brigade settled in for a pleasant afternoon.
Things changed quickly in the second half and it was Rafa who undoubtedly left the pitch the happier of the two managers, I’m fairly certain that’s a fact.
I’m guessing the week ahead will see a renewed rivalry between Sir Alex and Mr Benitez, a fresh war of words, not least about the handshake that never was.
If I were Rafa I’d keep a lid on it and concentrate on the upcoming fixture list, he has rarely fared well from the exchanges with the wiley Ferguson.
I’m guessing the week ahead will also see some really cold, really spiteful weather visit many parts of the United Kingdom. As a Belfast citizen I was more than a tad surprised to begin my daily bicycle commute to work facing an Arctic wind chill – I was even more surprised when it started snowing while I was out for a walk at lunch time.
I’m guessing that someone will win the Lottery on Tuesday night, someone will win it on Wednesday night and none of those folk will be me.
Could Arsenal spring a miracle and get a result in Munich? Can Barcelona overturn a two goal deficit against Milan. Time to brace ourselves for fireworks.
One thing I was guessing might happen in the week ahead and I hope that it doesn’t – the guy who’s running North Korea these days, Little Kim? This guy has thrown a lot of toys out of his proverbial pram (he’s not long out of his pram) in the last week and apparently he’s not happy with the world around him and everyone in it, still holding onto some teenage angst. Unfortunately what he’s also holding onto is a nuclear arsenal of indeterminable size so my prediction is that he’s going to do something altogether stupid this week with long standing repercussions for all.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to ring any alarm bells there – my mind wandered, that’s all. Now, I must go as the fresh air outside is only going to get colder and I still have to cycle home up a very large, very steep hill!
