Arsenal latest: Including Richards rumours and Ribery injured

News and gossip from The Emirates

Arsenal may benefit from the potential summer clear-out at Manchester City this summer as Micah Richards is being lined up as a replacement for Bacary Sagna as the starting right-back at The Emirates. He is one of many players being linked with a move out of The Etihad this summer as Roberto Mancini becomes increasingly irritated with the England internationals injury problems.

We have brought you a few quotes that might just suggest this deal could certainly happen courtesy of Dan Coombs.

Arsenal have been dealt an early boost ahead of the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich after Franck Ribery picked up an injury during the team’s 3-2 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf this weekend. Ribery suffered an ankle injury in the game and has been ruled out. He joins the suspended Jerome Boateng and Bastian Schweinsteiger in absentia while Holger Badstuber remains a long-term injury absentee.

Bayern Munich have also announced that they have tried to lure Arsene Wenger to the club on a few occasions. They apparently tried to tempt him to the team in 1995 before he decided to manage Nagoya Grampus Eight in Japan and the club president admitted that whenever a managerial vacancy came up at the club that the Frenchman’s name would always come up.

The Daily Star has reported that Ashley Williams will not join Arsenal this summer. The Wales captain has been linked with a potential move from League Cup winners Swansea this summer but after he urged the team to stick together it appears that such talk is just rumour at the current time.

Arsenal and Spurs may be set to battle for Gonzalo Higuain of Real Madrid. The Argentine striker is expected to leave The Bernabeu this summer after falling below Karim Benzema in the starting line-up. Both sides are looking to strengthen their attacking options and see the striker as a perfect option.

There may be a lifeline for Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner. The forward has endured a torrid time during his loan stint with Juventus this year and has also picked up a six-month suspension from the national side after being arrested for drink-driving earlier in the month. However it is reported that Hamburg may be interested in bringing him in next season.

And finally it has been reported that Arsenal will reject the opportunity to bring Alex Song back to the club from Barcelona in order to pursue Celtic player Victor Wanyama. The Cameroonian international has struggled for first team football since arriving in Catalonia and now Arsenal are reportedly more likely to bring in the Kenyan this summer.
