NextGen Series: Who plays who in the quarter-finals?

Serge Gnabry Arsenal 2

Aston Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all now know who they will face in the final eight of the competition.

Thursday night saw Juventus welcome Rosenborg to the Alessandria Stadium in the final second round match of this seasons NextGen Series.

Rosenborg have been weakened by the loss of their star player Vajebah Sakor back to his parent club Askers and his midfield influence was clearly missed as a 29th minute goal from Stefan Beltrame proved enough to send the Bianconeri through to the quarter-finals at the Norwegian sides expense.

The result means we now know the identity of all eight teams left in the competition and the main positive to take from that is the fact 50% of the quarter finalists are English sides after Aston Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all completed excellent victories in the second round.

So who will play who?

Arsenal v CSKA Moscow

Aston Villa v Olympiakos

Chelsea v Juventus

Tottenham v Sporting Lisbon

After Arsenal beat the reigning champions Internazionale on Wednesday their star striker Chuba Akpom made it clear the team believes they can go on to win the entire competition:

"We know we can win. We have the players, we have the quality and the only way is forward for us. We are getting stronger and stronger.

"When you go through games like this, it just brings the team closer. We all want to win, we are all champions and this just bonds us together even more."

The winners of the quarter-finals will play their semi-finals in Como after it was announced that Calcio Como would host the competition finale this season at their Giuseppe Sinigaglia stadium.

Last season the final was played at Brisbane Road.
