Edin Dzeko could be available this summer, which means Tottenham have an obvious centre forward to pursue.
One of the areas of the Spurs team which will need improving over the summer is the attack. They could do a lot worse than trying to stop Edin Dzeko from returning to the Bundesliga and bringing him to White Hart Lane, providing they can tempt Manchester City to sell.
Dzeko would allow Spurs to maintain that height element of their attack. Dzeko can play as a target man if needed because of his size and power. Emmanuel Adebayor’s inconsistency this season means few Spurs fans would argue over the like-for-like switch between players.
Dzeko has been in great form this season which is remarkable as he’s not been starting games. He’s bagged 12 goals in 11 starts and has come off the bench on 13 different occasions. He’s also shown great discipline through only three yellow cards this season.
Build Up Play
His build up play has been superb ever since he joined Manchester City. He’s very gifted at dropping off slightly to get involved in the more creative side of the game. He can also hold the ball up well and bring others into the game as his side counter attacks.
His finishing is as good as Spurs could hope for. He’s lethal in and around the penalty area which means Spurs have a reliable and consistent striker, who they will want the ball to fall to. He’s also shown some great improvisation skills as far as his finishing goes, which makes him useful at any point in attacking play.
At the end of this season he’ll have three seasons of Premier League experience under his belt. That means he could be instantly effective for Tottenham, as opposed to the club turning to another league and another country, bringing in a player who may not make an impact so quickly.
Spurs fans, would he be a good signing?
