Manchester United need to move on quickly this morning and focus on securing the double which will more than make up for the heartbreak of their Champions League exit against Real Madrid.
There are several reasons they should fly to glory on both fronts.
The determination which will now be felt across the entire squad and among the fans will be higher than it’s been all season. There will be anger and bitterness to go along with it and the only way to treat that, is to make sure there are no slip ups as far as the Premier League and FA Cup are concerned.
The fact United are out of the Champions League means they have fewer games to play over the rest of the season. This allows key players to stay a little fresher and means the club goes into each Premier League and FA Cup match stronger than they would otherwise be.
Sir Alex Ferguson showed against Real Madrid that his tactical genius is as good as it’s ever been. This does not bode well for United’s opponents over the remaining games of the season because United have proven they can tactically match up against any other side in the world.
We’re in the final part of the season so there are players at United who could well be playing for their futures. This guarantees that any chance they get, they will be playing out of their skin to score goals and have a major influence on the team, which bodes well for the side in general.
The overall feelings of heartbreak the club has been made to endure from the back end of last season up to this point, is not something that the club will want to go through again. United have been taught some harsh lessons in the last 12 months, if they show they have learnt from them, they’ll win everything left.
United fans, how do you feel about the rest of the season?
