Everton are looking at Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason.

Everton are thought to be one of several Premier League teams currently scouting Alfred Finnbogason of Herenveen, a 24-year-old forward with a brilliant record at his club this season.

He’s bagged 19 goals in 22 games so far this current campaign which puts him up at the same level with most of the top strikers around Europe in terms of his consistency and his strike rate.

Everton have an edge over West Ham United and Aston Villa who are thought to be the other two teams interested in him.

West Ham have not got any realistic chance of flying up the table over the last part of the season, which means Everton will have the natural advantage of being able to offer European football.

The club shouldn’t be too worried about the reported interest from Aston Villa considering Villa may not even be a Premier League team next season, which would more than likely put Finnbogason off from a move to the Midlands.

He seems like an Everton sort of player in the respect that he works very hard throughout matches and is the sort of hustle and bustle type forward that could appeal to the club.

If Everton are forced to offload Marouane Fellaini this summer, then they will be looking for new and different attacking options which means there may be a space opening up in the current squad.

His versatile which makes him appealing in this respect. He seems like a Wayne Rooney type of striker; someone who can lad the frontline just as easily as dropping into the hole, or into a wider position in the side.

The stumbling block here is going to be the price because he’s on a deal which runs until 2015, which means he is not going to be a cheap transfer.

He’s by no means going to cost tens of millions of pounds but unless Everton could get a deal thrashed out for him early, they may lose out if a bigger bidder comes to the table late on, offering substantially more than Everton can afford.

He only signed for Herenveen towards the end of last summer but he could find it very difficult to turn down the opportunity to play in a higher profile league and take on a bigger challenge.

Everton fans, any chance of this happening? Do you need him?
