Five Aston Villa players who they need to hold onto

Aston Villa stand a very good chance of staying up but who deserves a chance to represent the club in the Premier League again next season?

Aston Villa have as good a chance as any other club of staying up by the end of this season. If they pull it off, a natural reaction could be a complete overhaul of playing staff.

However, there are five key players who deserve a chance to redeem this season and play for the club in the top flight next year.

Christian Benteke

The striker is the obvious choice of player that Aston Villa need to try and hang onto. It will be difficult considering the number of clubs that have been reportedly interested in signing him. If he’s given some extra support next season, he may just go from strength to strength.

Fabian Delph

Delph struggled during the early part of his Aston Villa career but his recent form has been very good, which means he should be on the list. He’s an aggressive type of holding player the team will need to protecting key attacking players over the course of next season.

Charles N’Zogbia

N’Zogbia has been one of the better attacking players at Aston Villa in recent weeks despite a poor career at the club beforehand. His wing play and creativity is as good as anyone else at the club so it would be a huge error if the club axed him for an alternative, and most likely at a loss on the £9.5 million they paid for him.

Andreas Weimann

Another player who has been linked with a move away from Villa Park. He’s popular because he runs his socks off in every single game, which is the sort of work ethic that Villa may struggle to replace. They have to try and keep him for his effectiveness in the final third.

Ciaran Clark

Not rated by some Villa supporters but the young captain has been under a lot of pressure this season. He deserves to stay at the club because he should only get better as he gets older and as his game starts to mature.

Who do you think Villa should try and keep?
