Could Andreas Weimann be scoring goals at The Emirates on a regular basis?

Villa V Arsenal 2012

After the Aston Villa forward scored a brilliant solo goal against Arsenal last the weekend, could the Austrian's contract issues be music to the ears of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger?

On Tuesday it was revealed that contract talks with Andreas Weimann at Aston Villa had stalled and despite the Villa management insisting they remained calm on the matter the idea he could leave this summer is not based on pure fantasy.

Well in fact it is really but there are logical reasons to suggest why he might decide to hold off on contract talks.

The Austrian has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for Paul Lambert’s side this season and has been one of the few shining lights in an otherwise grim campaign.

It is reported that he has turned down an initial £15k-a-week offer from the club although it is widely believed this is only because of his decision to wait until the end of the season before committing himself to anything concrete.

His current deal expires in 2014 so you can understand why Villa are anxious to keep hold of him and after another impressive showing last weekend at The Emirates you can see just why other Premier League teams may just be snooping around the player; including Arsenal themselves.

Arsenal fans have been living in the fantasy of potential signings such as Edinson Cavani and co thanks to media speculation but in reality the idea Wenger will suddenly change his spending methods to appease the fans is unlikely.

Somebody like Weimann is much more his type.

The forward can play anywhere across the front-three and has pace to burn. On top of that his technique is also impressive and after he grabbed this goal last weekend he may have put his name in the back of Wenger’s mind for next season…

He can’t be as bad as Gervinho surely?

Do you think Weimann is good enough to play for Arsenal?
