Tottenham Hotspur latest: Defoe 'could play' and more Arsenal team news

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur news and gossip.

All eyes this weekend are on the North London Derby between Tottenham and Arsenal at White Hart Lane which kicks off at 4pm on Sunday. Spurs hold a four point lead over the Gunners at this stage with 11 Premier League games remaining.

Andre Villas-Boas has described the game as 'full of emotion', while the police have warned fans of both teams they will be monitoring fan behaviour at the stadium and keeping an ear out for offensive chanting.

The Tottenham manager has claimed Jermain Defoe 'has a chance' of making the derby and has returned to training today. Younes Kaboul, Sandro and Tom Huddlestone remain ruled out, while Clint Dempsey is also injured with a calf strain.

Emmanuel Adebayor is still expected to lead the attack with Defoe playing an impact role from the bench, but much will depend on his fitness and progress over the next 48 hours.

We have taken a look at the usually goal-packed fixture asking if it is the Premier League's most entertaining game. We also have an article on Daniel Levy's best transfer deals, which can give him reason to claim being the division's top chairman.

Arsene Wenger has claimed he will be making no special plans to deal with Gareth Bale, we have asked if this is risky business, with Carl Jenkinson due to face him with Bacary Sagna unfit.

Tottenham Hotspur duo Gareth Bale and Andre Villas-Boas have been crowned the Premier League Player of the Month and Manager of the Month. Bale took his tally for the season to 19 in all competitions and the club won three league matches out of three, as part of an 11 game unbeaten run.

The Standard claim Spurs are to offer Gareth Bale another new deal, upping his wages from £75,000 a week to £130,000, but it depends entirely on the club securing Champions League football, while former Spurs technical director, Damien Comolli, has urged the Welshman to stay at the club.

Spurs are the latest club to be linked with Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala, rated at £17 million who is also being tracked by both Manchester clubs, and AC Milan. The defender has stated he is flattered by the reports.
