The one-time £15 million Manchester United and Chelsea target who cannot get a game in Turkey

Milos Krasic was a serious transfer target for Manchester United in the summer of 2010 and Chelsea thereafter. But they lost out to Juventus and now the Serbian is struggling for football in Turkey. Where next for this wasted talent?

Serbian winger Milos Krasic was once a highly sought after European talent after catching the eye playing for CSKA Moscow. His long blonde hair and fast dribbling ability had earned him numerous comparisons to the likes of legendary Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved and he caught the eye of one team in particular back in 2009.

CSKA Moscow had to face Manchester United in the Champions League Group Stage that season and both home and away Krasic amazed Sir Alex Ferguson with his pace and raw ability to take players on down the flanks. In the 3-3 draw between the sides in November 2009 Krasic was by far the best player on the Old Trafford turf that night; giving Fabio as torrid a time as he will ever receive and swapping wings indiscriminately with Alan Dzagoev to terrorise Gary Neville on the other side.

When he coolly rounded Edwin Van Der Sar to grab CSKA’s second goal of the game it was just reward for his exceptional performance.

After that performance the interest in the player was palpable with Manchester United said to be the front runners in landing the player for £15 million in the summer of 2010.

In the end Juventus could not resist bringing in a player so physically akin to their club legend Nedved and pipped United to his signature for the cool sum of €17.5 million.

His career in Turin started well, even netting an early hat-trick against Cagliari but he soon suffered with injury problems and a rapid dip in form. In his second season with the Bianconeri he played just nine games as they were crowned Italian champions.

This summer he was sold to Turkish side Fenerbahce for €7 million in a move that was supposed to help rebuild his career; but he has again been disappointing.

His form is a shadow of what he carried into the 2010 season and he now struggles for playing time in Istanbul and recently his agent admitted he was on his way out of the club this summer with Dynamo Moscow or Krasnodar of the Russian Premier League lining up to take him on board.

"[There are] Russian proposals, but the final decision will be during the summer. Krasic will be in Turkey until June. [Krasic is] absolutely healthy and feeling good about himself. [He was] on the bench injured, played for a while and then left out. Milos does not know what the problem is. He trains regularly, but he is surprised not [to be] given the chance to prove himself."

It seems Manchester United dodged a bullet with this player.

Do you think United would have been a better move for Krasic? Has he been poorly managed in Italy?
