Spanish report: Bad news for Manchester City as Edinson Cavani wants Real Madrid move

Cavani

A Spanish source has reported that the Uruguayan hot-shot wants a move to The Bernabeu this summer over a potential switch to Manchester.

According to a report in Spain Edinson Cavani has already decided where his future lies; and it is not in the Premier League. Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with the Uruguayan goal-machine in recent months but the Premiership side that have been most frequently linked with his signature has been Manchester City.

After selling Mario Balotelli and the future of Carlos Tevez starting to come into doubt Roberto Mancini is keen to add the firepower necessary to the side in order to revamp the Premier League champions and adopt a more competitive approach in the Champions League next season.

But Spanish source Fichajes reports that Cavani has made his mind up about the move and wants to join Real Madrid.

Following on from the news yesterday indicating Real Madrid had already entered talks with Napoli about potentially meeting the £52 million release clause in his contract it seems there is a perfect storm that could see this seasons Serie A top scorer heading to the Bernabeu to challenge Karim Benzema for a starting spot; with Gonzalo Higuain potentially making way.

Paris Saint-Germain should also not be discounted. The mega-rich French outfit are believed to be interested in bringing in either Cavani or Falcao this summer as a show of strength to the rest of Europe.

While all this goes on around him Cavani needs to find some form. He hasn’t scored in six games for his club and in that time period they have lost ground on league leaders Juventus and been dumped out the Europa League by Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen.

He will need to find his form ahead of this weekend when Napoli take on Juventus in a potentially crunch title-deciding tie in the hunt for the Scudetto.

What do you make of the reports? Is Cavani to Real the likely move?
