Five Arsenal players under the spotlight against Tottenham
We have picked out five who have it all to prove or we expect something magical from...
Arsenal's confident goalkeeper has not enjoyed the best season, thanks to injury and indifferent form. Of late he has been particularly lacking in extravagance, and has been unable to help turn or save games for the Gunners. A matchwinning performance against Tottenham may just turn it round for him and answer questions over the club signing a replacement in the summer.
With first choice right-back Bacary Sagna out, all eyes will be on Carl Jenkinson and how he handles in-form winger Gareth Bale. Jenkinson is an Arsenal fan so you can expect him to show the passion required in this derby match, but it will be the ultimate test of his ability.
Jack Wilshere is the player who has been mentioned as even taking over the captaincy from Vermaelen in the summer and few would disagree with such a decision. Wilshere has been superb lately and knows what it means to Arsenal to play in this derby and will be extra keen to impress. He is also likely to roam forward and look for goals and is certainly one to watch.
Theo Walcott helped demolish Tottenham on two separate occasions in 5-2 victories, but both of those came at the Emirates so it is all on whether he can produce the same devastating form away from home. Walcott will want to play up front, but wherever he plays he will be a danger.
Giroud is Arsenal's striking alternative to Walcott, and he can become a Gunners hero by firing down Tottenham. After an excellent January, Giroud has slipped out of the excellent form he was in, but this could be just the game to re-start a goalscoring run.
Who will you be watching closely?
