Brendan Rodgers says he will resist the temptation to rush Daniel Sturridge back from injury. Liverpool face a difficult match against Wigan this weekend, which Sturridge was expected to return for but his manager has said he will protect his striker for as long as he needs to.

Brendan Rodgers is backing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to be named as player of the year. Suarez is up against Robin Van Persie of Manchester United for the golden boot this season but Rodgers has suggested Suarez deserves the award more for his work at Anfield.

Liverpool are still in the hunt to sign Wilfried Bony from Vitesse Arnhem after he failed to secure a move to Russia. Bony was being tipped to make a move to the Russian league before the close of their transfer window but Liverpool have been offered new hope of signing him at the end of the current campaign.

Talented Brazilian youngster Rafinha has reportedly snubbed interest from Liverpool. The Flamengo star has just signed a new five-year contract with his current side amidst reports that Liverpool may have been prepared to pay well over £20 million for him in the summer.

Liverpool have been dealt a big blow in their pursuit to sign Lazio defender Modibo Diakite. The player’s agent has suggested a deal has been agreed with Serie A side Napoli which means Diakite will not be joining Liverpool this summer or any other summer in the close future.

Brazilian midfielder Lucas says he doesn’t want to see Luis Suarez leave the club this summer. Suarez has been linked with a big money move to Bayern Munich but the Liverpool midfielder says he’s confident that Suarez will be at the club ahead of next season.

Jamie Carragher has spoken of his admiration for the youngsters at Liverpool. The veteran defender will retire at the end of the season but has suggested the future of the club is in safe hands with the youths showing an eagerness to soak up anything and everything to do with the club.

Lucas has urged Liverpool chiefs to give Brendan Rodgers as much time as he needs to realise his vision for the club. Lucas has suggested that Rodgers is not too far away from taking Liverpool to where they need to be to challenge for honours on different fronts.
