There are several consistent performers in the Championship who could all net moves to Premier League clubs this summer.
The Championship is a very smart way for Premier League bosses to dip into the transfer market and sign top quality players, with a point to prove for cheaper prices. Here is our selection of some players who could be on the move upwards this summer.
Glenn Murray of Crystal Palace
Glenn Murray of Crystal Palace is the top scorer in the Championship so far this season. He’s netted 27 goals which is six more than anyone else which means he’s an attractive option for any club, especially if Palace don’t get promoted to the top flight.
Charlie Austin of Burnley
Charlie Austin is another prolific goalscorer with 21 so far this season. He is at a slightly lower profile club than Murray and he’s the sort of out and out centre forward that some smaller calibre sides may be interested in. He’d also be a much cheaper option.
Chris Eagles of Bolton Wanderers
Chris Eagles could be on the move this summer because Bolton are not going back up to the Premier League and he already has a level of experience in the top flight. He’s the top assists provider this season, currently on 12 which is something that will interest many managers.
Thomas Ince of Blackpool
Ince has been linked with high profile moves to Liverpool and Reading in recent months but Blackpool seem to be holding out for top money which is putting sides off. The fact his Dad is now the manager at Blackpool means any side that wants one of the Championship’s top play makers, will have to fork out good cash for him.
Shane Lowry of Millwall
Lowry is on this list because he’s an aggressive, no nonsense sort of centre back which most Premier League clubs would love. His discipline will have to improve, ten yellow cards and one red this season, but he could do a job for one of the smaller sides.
Who would you put on this list?
