News and gossip from The Emirates.
Injury news now ahead of the North London derby this weekend and Arsene Wenger has rated Abou Diaby as 50-50 for the fixture. The French international has had yet another injury ravaged season this year and is still suffering with a calf problem but Wenger is hoping that he may recover in time for the tie. However early optimism of a return to action for Bacary Sagna has been slashed as Wenger confirmed he will be unavailable for the game along with Kieran Gibbs. It means Carl Jenkinson will be tasked with managing the in-form Gareth Bale.
Marc Overmars could be coming back! Sorry not as a player as despite his evergreen appearance at the age of 39 his knee is practically made of plastic but he could come back to join the backroom staff. The former Dutch international has spoken about a potential return to the club as he is still in regular contact with his former boss Wenger. He admitted if Arsenal wanted him back he would more than likely return despite being the current technical director at Ajax.
Arsenal will reportedly smash their current wage structure in order to bring in the necessary talent this summer. Despite having a high wage bill already much of that cost is expected to be written off when high earning fringe players such as Andrei Arshavin leave in the summer. It is hoped that by doing so the club may be able to attract the likes of Stevan Jovetic and Mario Gotze to the club.
Paddy Power could find themselves in legal trouble with Arsenal FC after a billboard with a humiliating message toward Andrei Arshavin was erected outside The Emirates. It depicts a plunger and asks whether he could clean up in the ‘Block D toilets’. It is part of the companies ‘second jobs for substitutes’ campaign but with Chelsea already pursuing legal action after a similar billboard mocking Fernando Torres was erected at Stamford Bridge Arsenal may follow suit.
Carlos Vela has refuted talk of a potential return to The Emirates in the summer. It is believed that Arsenal have a buy-back clause in his contract at Real Sociedad; where he has been in fantastic form this season. However the Mexican striker has stated he does not want to leave San Sebastian for his former employers.
Finally and Arsenal target Fernando Amorebieta has a new admirer in the form of Juventus. The Turin side have already sealed a move for his Bilbao team-mate Fernando Llorente in the summer and want the Venezuela-international to follow despite Arsenal’s strong interest. Meanwhile potential right-back targets Daryl Janmaat and Sebastian Corchia have both spoken about a potential move away; with the former suggesting it was just press-talk and the latter confirming he would like a big move this summer.
