PICTURE: Dennis Bergkamp statue to be erected at The Emirates

Bergkamp Euro 96

Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp is set to join former team-mates Tony Adams and Thierry Henry by being immortalised at the club.

Dennis Bergkamp has recently been touted toward a potential Emirates return but now it seems he will never have to leave; as the club get ready to honour the Dutch legend with a statue at the ground.

A picture of the potential landmark to the great Dutchman has already been revealed on Twitter, albeit perhaps prematurely.

It shows a magnificent moment when the elegant forward controlled the ball in mid-flight against Newcastle United while playing for the club.

The Dutch international played 423 times for The Gunners scoring 120 goals until his retirement in 2006 and is still revered as one of the pedestal players that all Arsenal players should aspire to play like.

Somewhat ironically the statue will make him look like he is flying in the air which, for a man who spent much of his professional career battling a crippling fear of getting onto planes for European ties, does have an ironic twang about it.

Do you think Bergkamp deserves the statue? Do you like the choice of design?
