Ibrahima Toure has been in sensational form for Monaco this season and such form has seen him compared to PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But unlike Zlatan it is this mans 'dream' to play in the Premier League; especially with Arsenal.
Ibrahima Toure has been one of Europe’s breakout performers this season despite playing in the French second tier. The Monaco striker has had an exceptional season as Claudio Ranieri’s men look to secure a place back in the top tier of French football; Ligue 1.
The 27-year-old striker has had an interesting career so far. The Senegalese international had a one-month spell at Metz as a youngster before being moved to Chinese side Chengdu Wuniu the same year. He went on to play in Morocco before a fruitful four year stint in the Iranian league was followed by a goalscoring season with Ajman in the United Arab Emirates but his journeyman career around the globe was about to finally lead him to the worlds premium football continent when he was signed by Monaco in 2011.
Since arriving in the French league he has been in sensational form. In his first season he scored 10 goals in 17 appearances and so far this season he has scored 19 goals in 29 appearances for the mega-rich Ligue 2 side.
In November last year the powerful striker spoke about a potential move to the Premier League with one team in particular catching his fancy as a potential destination:
"Playing in the Premier League is my dream. That is my wish. Would I stay if I have offers from England next summer? It will depend on what the club officials decide. We will see. Monaco are a big club but my long-term wish is to play in England, for example at Arsenal.’’
Now the striker has been compared to a player who once infamously told Arsene Wenger he does not do trials; Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Talking to RMC in France he was speaking about the potential for Monaco, with all the clubs riches, to match the achievements of Paris Saint-Germain; who have come on leaps and bounds since heavy investment in the club from Qatar.
He also took the time to mention that he was honoured to be compared to Ibrahimovic by some members of the press; in relation to the influence he has to the success of his team:
"Monaco has the capacity to mount in Ligue 1. PSG no better than Monaco, on all sides. There are your colleagues who say that Ibrahima is to Monaco what Ibrahimovic is to Paris ... It is a pleasure to be compared to a monument like him.’’
Do you think Toure could be a hit in the Premier League?
