Real Betis thrashed Malaga in La Liga last night with goals from Jorge Molina, Mario and Dorlan Pabon proving enough to beat the Champions League side and increase Pepe Mel's teams hopes of European football next season.
While the main talking point should be Benat's exceptional performance in the heart of midfield for Betis once again the debate about goal-line technology reared its ugly head in the game.
Jorge Molina took a penalty after Ignacio Camacho has handled in the area and despite the ball ratting off the bar it clearly crossed the line for what would have been 3-0.
The linesman was standing directly in line with the incident but still did not manage to see what many viewers at home felt was obvious that it was a goal.
Luckily there was no resounding comeback from Malaga or this story would have been bigger in proportion but it is another reminder of just how important the utilisation of goal-line technology in the near future will be; and another indicator that we should welcome FIFA's recent decision to give it a go.
Here is the penalty in question....
