Arsenal have been linked again with a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Sebastian Rode. The German midfielder has caught the eye of several suitors with his performances for the Bundesliga’s surprise package this season. After the announcement of Arsenal’s half-year financial results there was positive news as the club announced healthy profits. However there has been concern today that Arsenal’s wage bill is approaching the £150 million mark. The wages on fringe players such as Andrei Arshavin, Sebastian Squillaci and Maraoune Chamakh are pushing up the bill at the club and hopefully in the summer that wage packet will be reduced.

Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda has given the clearest indication yet that he wants to leave in the summer. He has announced his dream is to play in the Champions League and cited England, Spain and Italy as the countries he would be most likely to play in. For Arsenal to have a shot they would have to beat London rivals Chelsea and Spurs to the Champions League.

Arsenal are ready to allow Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell to continue his loan spell with La Liga outfit Real Betis. The 20-year-old recently reiterated his desire to stay in Spain for the foreseeable future despite potential for him to receive a work permit to play in the UK. Betis would like to keep the player so it seems it could be a move that works for all parties.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has dismissed the latest suggestions that the club are a selling club. After the profits at the club were announced this week it became clear many of the profits were due to player sales. He also announced that the club will be active in the transfer market.
