Alvaro Morata: The Real Madrid hot prospect Liverpool should consider?

Bernabeu Outside

Alvaro Morata is one of the best Spanish prospects currently not playing regular La Liga football. Owned by Real Madrid could he soon be on Liverpool's radar?

Alvaro Morata is a 20-year-old striker currently playing for Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish second division, and for Real Madrid in La Liga when he gets a rare call-up.

He has featured as a sub on six occasions for the Real Madrid first team this season and has bagged two goals in all appearances to date, most recently earlier this month in a 2-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

He is behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema in the pecking order at the club, which is why he’s currently mostly playing second division football.

It’s no secret that the best clubs around Europe are always on the look out for young and exciting talent to invest in and Morata would be a stonewall investment for any Premier League team.

Take your pick; Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all have the resources to buy a player like Morata at this stage of his career and turn him into a superstar.

But perhaps Liverpool, could be the side best off taking a look considering their lack of strikers at the club. With Fabio Borini considering a return to Italy, and German whizkid Samed Yesil suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury, the Reds may be looking for a new option to support Sturridge and Suarez.

The problem any side looking in from the outside has, is that Morata is one of the best players Real Madrid have invested in for a long time. He joined the side in 2008 from Getafe and was born in Madrid. But a loan move for a season could be worth enquiring after if Real don't want to sell, which could be the case as there is political pressure at the club to play and hang onto their top youngsters.

He has everything that a Premier League side will look for in a top class striker with bags of potential; height, power, pace and the ability to score goals. His record for the Spanish Under-19 side was fantastic; 11 goals in 13 appearances.

Liverpool will need to act fast because his role for the Real Madrid senior team next season could change and he could be given more of a chance.

It’s a case of identifying him initially although several clubs will already be aware of his quality and then getting some sort of deal thrashed out with his representatives and the club.

Morata has the potential to be brilliant over the next couple of years and his price is only going to go up. If any club is looking for La Liga investments then the time is ripe to invest.

Do you think he’d be a good investment for Liverpool?
