Baird has announced that it has added three veteran financial advisors to expand its private wealth management practice in the Charlotte, N.C., region.
Joining the firm is The Lipe Group, made up of Joseph A. Lipe and John B. Lipe, a father and son team with nearly 50 years of combined industry experience. Also joining is Kevin Phillips, a 20-year financial industry veteran. The Lipe Group will be based in Charlotte, while Phillips will work from a new wealth management office in Lake Norman, N.C.

Joe Lipe, Director, Financial Advisor, joins Baird from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney where he had been for more than 35 years, beginning when the firm was originally known as E.F. Hutton. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from Duke University and is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Virginia. Very active in his community, Joe Lipe serves on the board of Aldersgate and chairs its investment committee. He is also an emeritus member of the Duke Divinity School Board of Visitors. Joe Lipe resides in Charlotte with his wife Carmie. They have three grown children.
John Lipe, CFP®, Vice President, Financial Advisor, began his investment career with Smith Barney in 2007 working with his father. John is also a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and holds a bachelor’s degree from Duke University. He remains a dedicated member of the Duke community and resides in Charlotte.
Kevin Phillips, CFP® Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor, began his investment career with A.G. Edwards in 1990. He then moved to Wachovia and Wells Fargo, as a result of company mergers. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Insurance Business Administration from The John A. Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University. Phillips enjoys volunteering at The Cove Church. He resides in Mooresville, N.C., with his wife Susie and their two children.
Baird has added more than 275 Financial Advisors and Branch Managers to its Private Wealth Management group since the beginning of 2009, the vast majority of whom are industry veterans. Beyond adding talent, Baird has opened wealth management offices in new markets including Portland, Maine, Salt Lake City, Fort Worth, Texas, and Portland, Ore.
