Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Ryan Giggs performance at QPR

On his 999th appearance in senior professional football the Welshman produced an all round excellent performance and also grabbed a goal in a 2-0 victory in London.

Manchester United carried out one of their more mundane and routine victories against QPR at Loftus Road yesterday. Despite not setting the world alight or indeed playing badly United produced a comfortable display of efficiency that until Sunday evening at least leaves them 15 points clear at the top of the table.

There were a few major talking points after the game. Rafael’s sumptuous half-volley, Robin Van Persie’s unfortunate hip injury which United fans will hope is not as serious as feared and of course the performance of the evergreen Ryan Giggs.

The veteran midfielder scored the second of United’s goals and then came within inches of grabbing a second goal with a delicate chip that had Paul Merson in the Soccer Saturday studio purring like a content kitty.

He wasn’t the only one admiring Giggs’ contribution to the game as his manager Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to sing his praises as well:

“You have to get that second goal and Ryan Giggs has a great record of scoring here. He's delivered again - he's an amazing man,”

The performance was all the more impressive when you consider that the fixture was the Welshman’s 999th senior appearance in professional football; leaving many fans, pundits and fellow pros in awe of his achievement.

Here is some of the reaction from Twitter:
