The curse of following Tottenham away from home in the Europa League has struck again.
The Spurs fans were drinking at a bar when they were set upon by around 50 masked men with some reportedly making Nazi salutes during the attacks.
It’s the second incident this season where Spurs supporters have been attacked while enjoying themselves before crucial away games in the competition. Lazio supporters performed a similar attack in Italy before the New Year.
Tottenham have a deep Jewish heritage among many sections of their support base which seems to make them a target for anti-Semitic groups whenever the club plays away from home in Europe.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t stopped there with Spurs also verbally abused during home games this season by West Ham United supporters and Lazio fans during the Europa League group game.
Fortunately Spurs have confirmed that none of the club’s fans sustained any critical injuries during the attack.
Spurs are likely to report the incident but it’s unlikely that anything serious will be done about it with mediocre fines likely to be dished out no penalties taken against Lyon as a club.
What do you make of the attack?
