Central defender Martin Skrtel is a doubt for the Europa League clash with Zenit St Petersburg tomorrow night. The central defender is suffering with a knee problem which means he’s touch and go to be fit in time. Liverpool may rest him ahead of crucial Premier League games.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has urged the club’s fans to create a hostile atmosphere for the visit of Zenit tomorrow night. Liverpool trail the Russian side 2-0 from the first leg which means they need the Anfield crowd to be at their most vocal to intimidate the visitors.

Brendan Rodgers has backed striker Fabio Borini to bounce back at Liverpool next season. The Italian is likely to miss the rest of the current campaign with a shoulder injury after he was kept out of the Christmas and New Year period with a broken foot which he suffered playing for the Italy Under-21 team.

Celtic defender Efe Ambrose says he is flattered to be linked with a move to Liverpool. Liverpool need a player to cover the retiring Jamie Carragher at the end of the season and Ambrose is one of the names that has already been linked with a possible Anfield switch.

Pelosi has a reputation as one of the best young midfielders at the club.
