Zlatan Ibrahimovic may find it difficult to force a move to German giants Bayern Munich.
PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he would be interested in a move to the Bundesliga but only with Bayern Munich.
However, while Pep Guardiola is the manager at the club, he may find it very difficult to play for German league leaders.
The pair have history from their Barcelona days. Ibrahimovic was not Guardiola’s favourite player despite an impressive strike rate of 16 goals in 29 games.
However, these appearances came over two seasons while Guardiola was manager, which means the coach never really saw him as a key figure in his plans to develop Barcelona in the way he did.
“The Bundesliga is certainly a league that attracts me. One day, maybe I will go there. I still have a little time left in my career. If I chose to go to Germany, it would have to be Bayern Munich,” Ibrahimovic told 11Freunde.
With Guardiola unlikely to change his philosophy or style of play too dramatically during his time in Germany, it could be very difficult for PSG’s main man to first get a move to Bayern and then to get into the team.
The Bundesliga is filled with plenty of top quality and financially viable options for Bayern Munich which means Guardiola won’t have to look too far outside Germany if he doesn’t want to.
He could well end up going there but it will most likely be one of the final moves of his career, in his mid-30s when Guardiola has moved onto another challenge, possibly replacing Fergie at Manchester United?
For now, Ibrahimovic remains one of the best paid players in French and European football and while PSG still have several things to achieve and silverware to win, it doesn’t make sense for him to move.
If Guardiola does decide that Ibrahimovic is a player that he wants to draft in, then it could well mean he simply wants him as a target man as opposed to a small Messi-esque player.
If this is the case, then it’s a move that will be difficult because Ibrahimovic’s ego will demand he’s the regular starting striker and the main man at the club.
Will Ibrahimovic ever end up at Bayern Munich?
