Twitter Reacts to the Official Introduction of Goalline Technology

At long last FIFA have announced that goalline technology will be introduced at the next World Cup. We took to Twitter to see what everyone is making of the news.

Finally FIFA have shown some common sense with the news that referees will be offered technological assistance to determine what’s a goal and what isn’t officially from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

As far as Frank Lampard and England are concerned it’s about four years too late but considering the reluctance of FIFA to use goalline technology all the way through the process, it’s a massive step forward for the game.

There are two systems up for the contract; Hawk-Eye and GoalRef. Hawk-Eye will use a lot of cameras to determine whether the ball has crossed the line and GoalRef will use a magnetic field around the goal plus an electric circuit in the ball.
